How Can I Help?
(Tangible action you can take.)
The Big Picture
Have you ever heard the phrase “Attitude is everything?” Have you ever done something you knew was hard just because you didn’t allow yourself to do anything else but succeed? For us to keep our planet’s temperature from warming past devastating tipping points, we are going to need to make some difficult changes. But to achieve anything difficult, all it really takes is a decision. A decision within yourself that you are going to do whatever it takes. A decision that you are going to be a part of the solution instead of being a part of the problem. You simply decide to convert your care into tangible action. To turn your potential energy into kinetic energy. You have to believe that collectively we can move to green energy…and then do your part. You have to believe that we can move to plant based diets…and then do your part. This video clip has nothing to do with climate change, but has everything to do with how you can help make a difference.

If you’ve made the decision to be part of the solution, here are some ways you can take action. Some steps are simple, while others require more time and effort, but each one moves you toward meaningful climate action. Only you can decide how committed or involved you are willing to be. There may be times in your life when you can be more involved than others and your commitment level may evolve as well. One thing to keep in mind when deciding how much you want to do, just remember that action replaces guilt with pride and it replaces fear with hope. Also, the young kids you may feel are keeping you from doing much right now are the ones you’re taking this action for. And most of these actions you can take don’t take any extra time at all…just different decisions.

How You Can Help
(Actions individuals can take to mitigate climate change and raise awareness.)
The #1 thing you can do is become educated.
It’s critical to understand the scope and the urgency of the problems. This website was created to help you do this, but there is a lot more you can research depending on your interests of course. Putting the time in is the key. Watching one of these documentaries instead of a movie is one way to be efficient with your time.
- Install solar panels to lower reliance on fossil fuels.
The upfront cost is significant ($10K – $30K after tax credit) but you won’t have a monthly electric bill AND you’ll get paid for the power overage you sell back to the power company. Some homes won’t be set up well for solar, but many are. And if you aren’t going to be in the house long enough to realize the full payback, your house will be worth more when you go to sell it. And you can get a loan for them where the monthly payment is less than your electric bill was. So the only reason for not moving to solar panels for your home energy is if your home isn’t set up well for them or you have trees that cover your roof. In those scenarios, you can still plug in to solar gardens. Contact your energy provider to learn more.
- Switch to an Electric Vehicle (EV) or use public transportation more often.
EV’s are great! You are seeing a lot of Tesla’s on the roads for a reason. But they are not the only ones to choose from and more continue to come on the market. I have a Chevy Blazer EV and I love it. Some people have concerns about being stuck without being able to charge and while there aren’t as many charging stations as gas stations, there are plenty. If you do a lot of long-distance driving (more than 250 miles at a time) then a hybrid is a great choice too, but most people don’t drive more than 250 miles nearly as much as they may think they do. If you need to pull something or need more space for family, there are full EV trucks and SUV’s as well.
- Do an energy assessment on your home and improve efficiency.
- Reduce/stop eating beef—livestock agriculture is a major contributor to deforestation and emissions.I thought this one would be hard but it really wasn’t. I just choose other foods. But by not completely ruling out beef (only eating it a few times a year) it doesn’t make me feel like I’m wanting for it.
- Support brands and businesses that prioritize sustainability.
When we are preparing meals and cut up veggies that is organic waste. When we scrape our plates after the meal that is organic waste. Those and any other organics that we put in the trash can of course go to the landfills where these organics sit below all the other trash. Because this organic matter doesn’t decompose well between all this non-organic matter, it slowly decomposes and creates methane gas, which is a much more potent greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide. These methane gases work their way through up into the atmosphere and together with everyone else’s organic material equates to one of the top emissions contributors (#11 on the overall emissions list). This is one of the easiest things you can do on a daily basis to be part of the solution. Separate the organic materials into a bio decomposable bag (which you can get at most stores) and put that bag in your freezer. When it’s filled, either drop it off at your local organics waste spot or some cities have started curbside collection services, which makes it even easier. Contact your city to find out how they do it, but almost all cities have this program now.
If you’re an individual or household looking to offset your carbon footprint, the best options are online platforms that offer verified carbon credits. Look for:
- Direct Purchase from Carbon Offset Marketplaces
- Platforms like Gold Standard, Verra (VCS), and Climate Action Reserve allow individuals to purchase credits that support projects like reforestation, renewable energy, or methane capture.
- Websites such as Cool Effect, Terrapass, or MyClimate offer simple ways to buy small amounts of offsets.
- Subscription-Based Offsets
- Some services allow you to calculate your footprint and subscribe to monthly offset programs, such as Wren, Ecologi, or Pachama.
- Airline & Travel Offsets
- Many airlines and travel companies offer carbon offset add-ons at checkout, which can be an easy way to offset flight emissions.
- Donate to climate-focused organizations (see Donations page for a list).
- Vote for policies and leaders that prioritize climate action.
- Attend climate rallies, town halls, or advocacy meetings to find out more about how you can make a difference.
Encouraging Collective Action
- Lead by example. When people see your choices, they are more likely to follow.
- Share climate information on social media or in conversations with friends.
- This action item probably should’ve been number one at the top of this list because it is the most crucial part to changing our path and our future.
- I will be providing more direction on what we can all do in this category in the near future.
- Sign petitions and write to lawmakers about climate policy.
- Demand corporate accountability for environmental impact.
- Kinetic Earth → Millions of people care about climate change and want to take action—they just need direction. That’s potential energy. The Kinetic Earth initiative turns that energy into action, creating a space to share ideas, stories, and positive momentum for change.
Final Thoughts
The most powerful climate solutions require systemic change—but individuals play a key role in pushing for it.
Small, consistent actions add up. If enough people push for change, then change will happen.
Every choice we make today determines what kind of world we leave for future generations.
YOU have to make a decision. Just one decision—that you will care. Not just for your children and grandchildren, but for the innocent animals we are driving to extinction.
